The first flight will be operated by IndiGo. The project represents one of the largest greenfield airport developments in India.

The initial phase of the airport has required an investment of around 11,200 crore rupees. It will have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers per annum.

This capacity can scale up to 70 million passengers per annum when fully developed. The airport will connect the greater Delhi area and Western Uttar Pradesh with various destinations across India and globally.

The commencement of services follows the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Approval for the Aerodrome Security Programme was granted by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

The passenger reportedly vomited twice during the flight before making the jump. The pilot alerted ground security immediately after the incident occurred.

The passenger was detained by CISF personnel and handed over to airport police for further investigation. Authorities have registered a case against the passenger for violating aviation security regulations.

No damage was reported to the aircraft, and other passengers were safe. However, the main runway was closed for one hour due to security reasons following the incident.

The passenger is suspected to be from Pudukkottai district in Tamil Nadu. The incident caused a brief disruption to airport operations as officials assessed the situation.
