Ashok Kharat is currently in police custody, facing serious allegations of sexually exploiting more than 150 women followers. The shocking details emerged as investigators retrieved 200 videos from his laptops and mobile devices, raising alarms across Maharashtra.
The case has taken a dark turn, with reports indicating that Rupali Chakankar made 177 calls to Kharat last year. Meanwhile, Vikas Ramdas Divate, a victim, left a suicide note accusing Kharat of harassment, prompting authorities to reopen the investigation into his tragic death.
In addition to the sexual exploitation charges, Kharat is under scrutiny for financial fraud. He allegedly opened over 130 accounts in two cooperative credit societies under various names, with transactions totaling nearly Rs 63 crore. This financial web has led to at least 10 FIRs registered against him for sexual assault and cheating.
Among the recovered evidence, 58 objectionable videos were found during the investigation, further complicating Kharat’s legal troubles. The involvement of political figures like Eknath Shinde and Chandrakant Patil has also surfaced, as they are linked to the fallout from these allegations.
Reactions have been swift, with organizations like the Sneha Foundation urging those struggling with suicidal thoughts to seek help, stating, “Suicide Is Not A Solution: If you are having suicidal thoughts, or you are worried about a friend, or you need emotional support, then there is someone who is always there to listen to you.”
As the investigation unfolds, the public is left in shock over the extent of Kharat’s alleged crimes. Details remain unconfirmed, but the implications of this case are likely to resonate throughout the region.
