CB Bucknor’s Controversial Calls Spark Outrage

CB Bucknor’s umpiring faced intense scrutiny following a game between the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds on March 28, 2026. Bucknor had eight calls challenged, with six of them overturned, raising questions about his performance.

Eugenio Suárez successfully challenged two consecutive calls, while the Red Sox lost their challenges early due to missed calls by Bucknor. Alex Cora, the Red Sox manager, was ejected for arguing one of Bucknor’s decisions, stating, “He has one job to do, it’s (to) call balls and strikes.”

The game score was 5-3 when Ryan Watson faced Suárez, who noted, “That’s probably the loudest I’ve heard a stadium while pitching.” Bucknor’s performance has reignited debates about umpiring standards in Major League Baseball.

In a separate development, Telangana’s Chief Minister announced a CB-CID inquiry into illegal mining operations dating back to the formation of the state in 2014. This inquiry will specifically investigate allegations against Raghava Constructions regarding illegal granite quarrying.

A Revanth Reddy, the Telangana CM, stated, “We will conduct an inquiry by CB-CID into mining leases and irregularities since June 2, 2014.” He emphasized that the government would not be cowed down by such ‘blackmail’.

The inquiry comes amid reports of increased government revenue from mining, with an 83% rise in permit fees and a 97% surge in seigniorage fees since the CM’s party took office. Raghava Constructions reportedly paid 1 crore each for permit and seigniorage fees, but faces penalties of 25,000 for violations as per the Telangana State Minerals Dealer License Rules 2000.

As the inquiry unfolds, it will present a report in the next Assembly session, potentially impacting the political landscape in Telangana. Meanwhile, Bucknor’s controversial calls continue to dominate discussions among baseball fans and analysts alike.
