Before the launch of the iGOT Karmayogi platform, civil service training in India was often criticized for its inefficiency and lack of engagement. Launched in 2020, Mission Karmayogi aimed to address these issues by enhancing the capacity, performance, and efficiency of civil servants across the country.
Now, a decisive moment is upon us. From April 2 to April 8, 2026, the Department of Personnel and Training, along with the Capacity Building Commission and Karmayogi Bharat, will host a week-long Sadhna Saptah in New Delhi. This initiative marks a significant shift in how civil servants will engage with their training.
The Sadhna Saptah is designed to strengthen the culture of capacity building among civil servants. Participants will be required to log into the iGOT Karmayogi Bharat portal and complete at least four hours of prescribed courses during this week. This approach underscores a commitment to continuous learning and self-development.
Dr. Alka Mittal emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Mission Karmayogi aims to build the capacity, performance, and efficiency of civil servants across the country.” The program promises diverse learning opportunities, encouraging officials to actively engage in skill enhancement.
In a recent training program held on February 9, 2026, at ICAR–Indian Institute of Millets Research in Hyderabad, four thematic modules were introduced, focusing on the role of a Rashtriya Karmayogi and the responsibilities of public servants. This training adopted an app-based learning approach through the iGOT platform, showcasing a modern method of skill acquisition.
Vikas Kulkarni noted that officers and staff are expected to take this training seriously, as it is crucial for their professional development. The emphasis on logging in and completing the courses reflects a shift towards accountability in civil service training.
As the Sadhna Saptah approaches, the anticipation among civil servants is palpable. This initiative could redefine the training landscape for government employees, making it more interactive and relevant.
Experts believe that such comprehensive training programs are essential for fostering a more efficient and effective civil service in India. The integration of digital platforms like iGOT Karmayogi is a step towards modernization in public service training.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific outcomes of the Sadhna Saptah, but the commitment to enhancing civil service training is clear. The future of civil service in India may very well hinge on the success of this initiative.
