Sahil Parakh Faces Disappointing IPL Debut

Sahil Parakh has been recognized as a promising talent in Indian cricket, having performed well in age-group and domestic competitions. He made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Parakh is an 18-year-old left-handed batter and leg-break bowler. He represented India at the Under-19 level in 2024, scoring an unbeaten century of 109 runs against Australia.

In the IPL 2026 auction, he was picked by Delhi Capitals for Rs 30 lakh. Parakh replaced Pathum Nissanka as an opener in the playing XI.

However, he faced a disappointing start, getting dismissed for a two-ball duck. He was bowled by experienced bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who uprooted his middle stump with a peach of a delivery.

Prior to his IPL debut, Parakh played two T20 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last year. He scored 202 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 177.19 during the Maharashtra Premier League 2025.

Parakh captained the Maharashtra U-19 side and performed well in tournaments like the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. His early career has generated excitement among fans and analysts alike.

The Delhi Capitals have struggled this season, sitting seventh on the points table with six points and a net run rate of -0.184. Axar Patel stated that he would have fielded if he won the toss due to favorable pitch conditions.

Despite this setback, observers believe Parakh has the potential to bounce back and contribute significantly to his team’s performance as the season progresses.
