Aditya Uppal, who played Omar Hamid in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has opened up about his lifelong admiration for Bollywood icon Sanjay Dutt. Uppal described his experience working alongside Dutt as both intimidating and charming.
Uppal, who was cast at the last minute for the film, recalled his first meeting with Dutt on set in Amritsar. “Just standing next to him felt like an achievement in itself. Sharing screen space and dialogues with him was truly special,” he said.
As a fan since childhood, Uppal expressed his admiration for Dutt’s films, particularly Sadak and Saajan. He noted that Dutt chose to perform scenes with him instead of using a double, which he found incredibly meaningful as a newcomer. “Even during my close-up shots, he chose to stay back and perform the scene with me instead of stepping away and using a double,” Uppal shared.
Uppal’s admiration for Dutt extends beyond just his performances. He mentioned that Dutt’s presence elevated his own performance, making the experience unforgettable. “You do feel intimidated, obviously. He is a senior actor, a name we’ve all grown up watching,” he added.
Looking ahead, Uppal expressed a desire to collaborate with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, stating, “I’d really love to share screen space with Farhan Akhtar. I genuinely admire his kind of cinema and his work as an actor.”
As the film industry continues to evolve, Uppal’s journey as an actor and his experiences with legends like Dutt highlight the impact of mentorship in Bollywood. Details remain unconfirmed regarding his future projects, but fans are eager to see what comes next for this rising star.
