Bose Krishnamachari Resigns Amid Harassment Complaint

“Mr. Krishnamachari’s resignation was connected with the complaint and the KBF’s Internal Committee is taking action on the complaint,” stated V. Venu, confirming the resignation of Bose Krishnamachari from the Kochi Biennale Foundation.

The resignation comes in the wake of a sexual harassment complaint filed by a former employee, detailing an incident that allegedly occurred on December 28, 2025. The complaint was submitted to the Internal Complaints Committee under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

Bose Krishnamachari, a co-founder of the Kochi Muziris Biennale and co-curator of its inaugural edition in 2012, cited family reasons for his resignation. However, he has refuted the allegations, claiming they are misleading and unsubstantiated.

“The allegations were misleading and unsubstantiated and taken out of context,” Krishnamachari said, as he initiated legal action against the complaint.

The unnamed complainant expressed her distress, stating, “She felt trapped and violated and had at no point given her consent to physical contact or remarks or advances.”

V. Venu confirmed that the Internal Complaints Committee is actively addressing the complaint, which was received in early January 2026.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, there has been no police complaint filed regarding the incident as of now.

Following his resignation, Krishnamachari has been appointed as the Cultural Curator of Kochi, indicating a swift transition in his role within the arts community.

The sixth edition of the Kochi Muziris Biennale opened on December 12, 2025, showcasing the ongoing evolution of this significant cultural event.

Details remain unconfirmed as the situation develops.
