New LPG rules from May 1 may further tighten booking and delivery systems amid rising fuel prices. Domestic LPG cylinder prices increased by ₹60 last month, while commercial cylinders also saw multiple hikes.
Key changes:
- Oil marketing companies revise LPG prices at the start of every month.
- Booking intervals for LPG have increased in urban and rural areas.
- OTP-based delivery and Aadhaar eKYC are now required for many users.
Online bookings account for nearly 98% of total requests. The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder was raised by ₹60 in March. The price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder rose by ₹144 in March, followed by another hike of nearly ₹200 on April 1.
Sujata Sharma advised citizens to avoid panic purchasing of petrol, diesel, and LPG. She stated that the government is working to ensure availability amid geopolitical tensions affecting energy markets.
No confirmation exists on whether LPG prices will rise again on May 1.
