AIIMS Mangalagiri has reached a significant milestone, conferring degrees on 49 MBBS graduates, alongside five MD/MS postgraduate students and four Post-Doctoral Certificate Course students. This achievement underscores the institution’s rapid growth since its inception.
The MBBS program at AIIMS Mangalagiri began in 2018 with an initial intake of just 50 students. Today, the institution boasts a total of 748 students, with an annual intake of 125 students, reflecting its expanding role in medical education.
In addition to its educational achievements, AIIMS Mangalagiri has completed an impressive 31 lakh outpatient department (OPD) consultations. The hospital currently sees a daily footfall of around 3,500 to 4,000 patients, highlighting its importance in the region.
To further enhance its healthcare services, AIIMS Mangalagiri has installed a Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT) system, a first among all AIIMS in South India. This advanced system, costing approximately ₹1.73 crore, significantly improves the detection of viral infections such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.
Union Minister Anupriya Patel emphasized the government’s commitment to the medical sector, stating, “The Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving utmost priority to the medical sector.” This reflects a broader initiative to improve healthcare access for the underprivileged.
Ahanthem Singh, a key figure in the institution, remarked on the importance of the NAAT system, saying, “The NAAT system enhances safety by significantly reducing the diagnostic window period.” This advancement is expected to lead to quicker diagnoses and better patient outcomes.
As AIIMS Mangalagiri continues to grow, observers anticipate further developments in both medical education and healthcare services in the region. The institution’s commitment to excellence positions it as a leader in the field.
With ongoing support from the government and advancements in technology, AIIMS Mangalagiri is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in Andhra Pradesh.
