The wider picture
The Class 8 results were announced following the completion of the evaluation process after examinations held over two weeks ending March 4. This year, a total of 12,86,220 students appeared for the Class 8 examination across 10,056 centres in Rajasthan.
In a positive turn, 12,45,735 students passed the Class 8 examination, resulting in a commendable pass percentage of 97.01%. This marks an improvement of 0.35% from the previous year, reflecting the hard work of both students and educators.
Breaking down the numbers, boys achieved a pass percentage of 96.52%, while girls outperformed with a pass percentage of 97.57%. This trend highlights the ongoing efforts to promote education among girls in the region.
However, not all students fared well. A total of 38,276 students were placed in the supplementary category, indicating that they will have the opportunity to re-examine. To qualify, students must secure at least 33% marks in each subject, with a grade of ‘D’ or above considered a pass.
The supplementary exams provide a second chance for those who did not meet the required standards, ensuring that students have the support they need to succeed. Observers note that these measures are crucial for maintaining educational standards and encouraging student perseverance.
In comparison, the Class 5 pass percentage was recorded at 97.75% in 2026, with 13,68,947 students appearing for that examination. This indicates a healthy educational environment across various grade levels in Rajasthan.
As the education department prepares for the supplementary examinations, officials are optimistic about the outcomes, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and improvement for all students.
